GECO, Inc. Teams with Third-Largest Publicly-Owned Power Company to Provide Cutting-Edge TechnologyMesa-Based GECO Beat Out National Firms to Provide Payment Kiosks that Allow 50,000 Salt River Project Customers to Pre-Pay for EnergyMesa, AZ; March 14, 2006- GECO, Inc., a woman-owned software/hardware firm based in Mesa, has signed a contract with Salt River Project [SRP], to design, manufacture, and maintain new PayCenter payment kiosks, as an update to SRP's existing M-Power pre-payment system. GECO's ability to customize the kiosks to meet SRP's needs won the contract over national firms like technology giant Diebold. "The bigger industry players couldn't shift gears rapidly enough to accommodate all the requirements, but our team was able to craft a solution to meet SRP's needs," explains Jennifer Graves, COO of GECO, Inc. "GECO is small but mighty - our select group of software and hardware engineers are among the finest in Arizona." The M-Power system works like a pre-paid phone card: SRP customers can pre-pay for their energy at a PayCenter kiosks, which accept payments in increments as small as one dollar. GECO's role in modernizing the system is critical, as 40,000 SRP customers currently use the PayCenter kiosks, with more than 1,000 people enrolling each month. "We are very excited about partnering with GECO for our M-Power kiosks and software maintenance," stated Michael Lowe, SRP Customer Services Executive. "We are committed to offering our customers a secure, convenient transaction experience, and this updated system will facilitate that. More than 40,000 SRP customers make 2.5 million transactions per year through our automated PayCenters. With this much usage, our existing equipment experienced high maintenance requirements. Working with customers in mind, SRP and GECO partnered together to design a payment kiosk that uses a larger display, provides voice directions, processes transactions faster, utilizes off-the-shelf hardware, and requires less maintenance. We appreciate working with a partner who shares our vision." |
